At the Veneto Classic, Clément Izquierdo finished just outside the top 15 after a grueling race. The Cofidis rider gradually found his rhythm, though he was unable to contend for the top spots.
After a difficult start to the race, Clément Izquierdo picked up the pace over the course of the 157 kilometers. But the decisive breakaway—composed of several of the day’s strongest riders—set off without him. He ultimately finished 17th, at the end of a race where end-of-season fatigue took its toll on the Cofidis team.
The reaction
Roberto Damiani, sports director:
“The breakaway went out late today and certainly included the strongest riders of the day. Clément Izquierdo had a bit of trouble getting going at the start. It’s really a shame because he was in really good form today. There was a lot of fatigue in the team today after a truly intense year.”
