Team Cofidis once again raced aggressively on Stage 5 of the CRO Race, covering 164.5 kilometres between Karlovac and Sveta Nedelja. Edoardo Zamperini animated the race as part of the day's breakaway before his teammates took over in the final kilometres. Clément Izquierdo sprinted to 7th place, while Sam Maisonobe and Dylan Teuns retained their respective 4th and 6th places in the general classification ahead of tomorrow's final stage.
From the opening kilometres, Edoardo Zamperini joined a six-man breakaway. Despite their efforts, the leaders were caught at the foot of the final climb, Plešivica.
Team Cofidis remained well positioned at the front of the peloton to support its leaders. Sam Maisonobe produced a strong climb and made it into a group of around 30 riders, alongside two of his teammates. With four kilometres to go, Dylan Teuns launched an attack of his own in a group of seven riders, before the race came back together.
The stage ultimately came down to a sprint from a group of around 60 riders. Clément Izquierdo finished 7th, securing another Top 10 result for the team. In the general classification, Sam Maisonobe remains 4th and Dylan Teuns 6th ahead of the final stage of the CRO Race.

"We were hoping that a breakaway could make it all the way to the finish today, and Edoardo Zamperini was in the right group from the start of the stage. Unfortunately, the peloton controlled the race well, and the breakaway was caught at the foot of the final climb.
The team then did a very good job of positioning our leaders. We managed to get three riders into a group of 25 to 30, including Sam Maisonobe and Dylan Teuns. It's a little disappointing that a group came back from behind, as the stage victory was ultimately decided in a sprint involving around 60 riders.
Clément Izquierdo finished 7th, giving us another Top 10 result. Once again, we saw a strong team performance today, with Sam still 4th overall and Dylan 6th. We'll try to be active again tomorrow on the final stage of the CRO Race."
