She has been part of the women’s team since its inception in 2022. Five years on, Martina Alzini has established herself as a key member of the team, having won four races this summer. And Martina, who has extended her contract for another season (2027), is determined to keep the momentum going.
"I like to say that Cofidis is like my second family,” says Martina Alzini. She adds: “
These aren’t just words. I’ve grown up with this team, I’ve experienced highs and lows, and they have always been there for me.”The Italian is one of the team’s leading figures. Indeed, she was part of the first-ever Cofidis women’s team in 2022. Martina was also the first Cofidis rider to win a race, taking victory in a stage of the Bretagne Ladies Tour.
Four years on, Cofidis continues to make progress at the highest level of women’s cycling. The team has grown, and Martina continues to play a key role. After an injury-hit 2025 season, she has come back stronger than ever. This year, she won the CIC-Tour Féminin International des Pyrénées (Stage 1) in June, the Tour de Portugal (Stage 2), and then Dwars door Wingene in July. At the end of August, she played her part in Cofidis’ golden week by winning Stage 2 of the Tour of Tuscany.
The Italian rider hopes to keep the momentum going. Extending her stay with Cofidis for another season felt like the natural choice, as she looks to continue performing at her best. At 29, she also wants to use her experience to support the younger riders and contribute to the positive atmosphere within the group.
Quotes
Martina Alzini:
“I’m very happy to have built such a long relationship with Cofidis and to have been here since the team was created. Extending my contract isn’t just about a contract; it’s a choice of the heart. Cofidis is like my second family, and these aren’t just words: I’ve grown up with this team, I’ve experienced highs and lows, and they have always been there for me. After a difficult 2025 season, marked by crashes, I worked very hard both physically and mentally to get back to my best. It’s great to see that the hard work is paying off. There’s a really good atmosphere within the team, which gives us confidence and makes us want to keep performing at our best, to live up to what the riders and staff are achieving. I’d like to thank everyone in the team: it’s thanks to them that I have everything I need to perform. And it’s also thanks to them that I can be myself.”
Raphaël Jeune, General Manager:
“We are delighted and very pleased to see Martina continue her journey with Cofidis. She has demonstrated all her talent and determination this season, raising her arms in victory on several occasions. We are fortunate to be able to count on her and to see, year after year, that her commitment to the Cofidis project has remained as strong as it was when the women’s team was first created. We are naturally very happy and touched to hear her say that Cofidis is her second family. We can only be pleased to know that we will continue to work with her next season.”
