La Vuelta came to an end this Sunday in the streets of Granada with a final stage that was far from a simple parade. Bryan Coquard stayed with the front group until the final climb towards the Alhambra before losing contact in the closing few hundred metres. Cofidis concludes three weeks of racing marked by a stage victory and several podium finishes.
For the first time in its history, La Vuelta chose Granada to host its grand finale. After a first part of the stage with the peloton together, the race came alive on the final circuit through the streets of the city. Attacks followed one another and the peloton quickly split under the pressure of the successive moves and climbs towards the Alhambra.
Bryan Coquard managed to stay with the front group of around forty riders as the battle for victory took shape. Still there with ten kilometres to go, the Frenchman fought to stay in contention on the final climb before losing contact in the closing few hundred metres. One final battle to conclude three intense weeks on the roads of Spain.
Cofidis thus concludes three strong weeks at La Vuelta, highlighted by three podium finishes for Bryan Coquard: his victory on stage 8, followed by two second places on stages 11 and 16.

“It was a 110-kilometre stage with a final circuit in Granada. It’s the first time La Vuelta has finished here. Our goal was to try to do something with Bryan Coquard. He was in the group of around forty riders fighting for the victory. On the final climb, he did everything he could to stay with them, but eventually lost contact. That was where the race for victory was decided and unfortunately we were no longer there. We’re happy with these three weeks at La Vuelta. We gave it everything we had.”
