Having been a professional for just two seasons, Clémence continues to improve. Riding for Cofidis, with whom she has signed a two-season contract, she hopes to keep improving, ride aggressively and experience some great moments.
When describing her strengths on a bike, Clémence Lamitier likes to say that she “is attack-minded” and that she “likes to take the initiative”. “I like to play an active role in races,” she says. That’s just as well: that’s exactly the DNA and mindset of the Cofidis team, for both the women’s and men’s squads.
Reaching new heights with Cofidis
Throughout the season, Clémence has demonstrated her ability, particularly on climbs. Finishing 9th in the Chambéry Women’s Grand Prix in April and 2nd in the Alpes Grésivaudan Classic in June, she came 6th in the French Championships in June and 5th in the Kreiz Breizh Elites Women’s race in August. Yet Clémence took up road cycling relatively late in life.
A keen runner, she discovered cycling following an injury. “I started mountain biking rather by chance; I joined a club before trying road cycling.” Since then, her rise has never really stopped. With Cofidis, she aspires to reach new heights and isn’t afraid to dream, with the deep conviction that she can achieve great victories.
THEY SAID
Clémence Lamitier:
“This year, I’ve overcome physical and mental hurdles that have enabled me to achieve good results. I believe this is the right time to join Cofidis so that I can benefit from the team’s professionalism and continue to improve. It’s a team with a wealth of experience and a high level of professionalism, not only in the men’s squad but also in women’s cycling. I still have a lot of work to do to improve and reach the level of the world’s best female riders. But I don’t want to set any limits for myself. I want to work on my weaknesses, improve my strengths and become a well-rounded rider! Finally, I’d like to thank everyone who has supported me on my journey to the top level: Team Féminin Chambéry, Arkéa-B&B Hôtels and Ma Petite Entreprise. And I can’t wait to start a new chapter with Cofidis! ”
Raphaël Jeune: “
We’re delighted to welcome Clémence to our women’s team. We’ve seen recently, particularly during the Tour de France Femmes with Zwift, that she was very often right at the front when the battle kicked off. We’re committed to helping her raise her game even further so she can continue to progress. I’m convinced she can deliver outstanding performances and bring prestigious victories to the Cofidis team in the future. She’ll play a key role in the women’s team’s future success!”
