Ten wins what a brilliant week!

The first stage of the Tour Poitou-Charentes and the first victory. The Cofidis team had arrived with high hopes and rose to the challenge from day one. Milan Fretin, who has been in excellent form since returning to competition following the Tour de France, was the first to make his mark. The Belgian sprinter made the most of the slight uphill stretch in the final stretch to make the difference. He donned the leader’s jersey, gained a huge confidence boost and got the Cofidis team’s incredible week off to the best possible start.

As a good omen, the races in Plouay, Brittany, got off to a flying start for the Cofidis riders. It was the para-cyclists who were the first to set off during the Challenge Breton. The Cofidis team put on a cracking display, and with good reason: four of them claimed victory in their respective categories! Katell Alençon, Gatien Le Rousseau, Louis Hubert and Nael Habasque all finished their races with a win. What a cracking display!

Having not won since 2023, she has already triumphed at the Tour of the Pyrenees in June, followed by the Tour of Portugal and the Dwars door Wingene in Belgium in July. At the end of the first stage of the Tour of Tuscany on Thursday, she did it again. Cofidis’ lead-out train was so impressive that Nadia Quagliotto, tasked with guiding Martina to victory, finished in second place. “I’m so happy – you never tire of winning,” she said at the finish.

He had been waiting for this for 13 years. 13 years as a professional, 13 years of racking up victories (56 in total) and dreaming of winning a Grand Tour. Bryan Coquard never lost faith and always fought hard, even going so far as to sacrifice his family holidays this summer to attend a training camp and ensure he was in peak condition for the Vuelta. On the roads around Xeraco, in the Valencia region, the whole team rallied round him. Alexis Renard took the final turn at the front and Bryan surged ahead, beating Mads Pedersen by half a wheel. At the finish line, Bryan lifted his bike aloft and, above all, savoured what he called “the finest day of his sporting career”.

We last saw her last July, having won the Tour of Portugal, where she had suffered a heavy crash in the final stages. After several weeks of recovery, Victoire Berteau was back in competition with her characteristic incredible determination. The route of the final stage of the Tour of Tuscany, with its many challenges, seemed tailor-made for her. With two laps to go, she broke away in a group with Nadia Quagliotto before finishing first and second alongside her. Another one-two finish and a third place for Victoire in the general classification: the riders left Tuscany on a high note.

There was an incredible sense of calm and strength within the Cofidis team lining up for the Bretagne Classic – CIC. Benjamin Thomas had joined the breakaway, whilst the rest of the team had been busy protecting Alex Aranburu. In the final stretch, which favoured the strong riders, Alex and Dylan Teuns broke away with a group of escapees. With one kilometre to go, Alex launched a decisive attack and was never caught. A masterclass and a triumph: his solo finish, securing the most prestigious victory of his career, brought this historic week to a fitting conclusion.
