Julie Bego delivered a strong performance on the demanding roads of the Classic Lorient Agglomération this Saturday. Part of the group fighting for victory in Plouay, the young French rider secured a fine 12th place after 165 km of racing.
With nearly 2,500 metres of elevation gain, rain and challenging Breton roads, it was set to be a demanding day. A seven-rider breakaway built a lead of up to six minutes before the pace increased approaching the final circuit.
The peloton gradually lost many riders, while several attacks were launched in the final 20 kilometres. Julie Bego remained well positioned in the front group and entered the closing kilometres alongside the riders fighting for victory.
The race was eventually decided from a reduced group in Plouay. Julie Bego crossed the line in 12th position, securing a strong result in this WorldTour race, just a few weeks after the Tour de France Femmes.

“It was one of the longest days of the season on the bike, with more than 160 km of racing. Our strategy was focused on Julie Bego and we really tried to put her in the best possible position throughout the day. She delivered and took a very good 12th place in such a difficult race.
We had rain and challenging roads. Taking 12th place here in Plouay is a great result and a good way for Julie to get going again after the Tour de France Femmes. It’s also a positive result for the whole team.”
