The third stage of the Vuelta a Burgos featured the first major mountain challenge of this year’s race. With 184 kilometers on the schedule and a hors catégorie climb to tackle, the riders were in for a true showdown between the climbers and the general classification contenders.
On a particularly demanding day, the Cofidis team was able to count on a solid performance from Jamie Meehan. The Irishman managed to stay in contact with the leaders during the final climbs to take a strong 13th place at the finish.
Finishing in a group battling for 7th place, Jamie Meehan finished 47 seconds behind the day’s winner, Felix Gall (Décathlon CMA CGM Team). This performance confirms the Cofidis rider’s strong form on Spanish roads, following a Tour de l’Ain where he performed well. In a Vuelta a Burgos where the challenges will continue to come one after another, the team is pressing on with ambition and determination.

Gorka Gerrikagoitia: “It was a tough stage, on small roads like every day here. We wanted to be in the breakaway, but today it was a real battle. We tried to do our best afterward. We had Jamie Meehan and Dylan Teuns to secure the best possible result. Jamie was great; he made it into the group fighting for seventh place, right behind the front-runners.”
