The Cofidis women’s team will welcome Zoé Bihan as a trainee from August. Melanie looks back on her career and her integration into the team.
A decisive first meeting in Calpe
“We’ve been keeping an eye on Zoé since last year. We thought it would be a good idea to invite her to the January training camp in Calpe. This camp gave her the chance to get to know the team environment, but also to see how she fitted in with the group.
She already knew a few of the girls from the track, which naturally made it easier for her to settle in. We quickly realised that she had the personal qualities needed to find her place within the group.”
Genuine sporting qualities
Beyond the personal aspect, it was on the sporting front that Zoé Bihan finally won the team over, particularly in a key aspect of road cycling: the lead-out.
“From a sporting perspective, we also recognised her potential, particularly in lead-out work, where she has shown great promise. This training camp has reinforced our decision to place our trust in her and to bring her on board with our project from August onwards.”
Progress to be continued
This signing is part of a medium-term development strategy, with the aim of seeing the young rider continue to improve as she races alongside the team.
“We now expect her to continue her progress, to keep gaining experience and to put her strengths to good use for the team.”
