This Saturday, riders in the Baloise Belgium Tour took on another stage suited to the sprinters, covering 183.5 km between Begijnendijk and Aarschot. The stage offered a great opportunity for a mass sprint, ideal preparation ahead of the Tour, against the very best.
After a 6-rider breakaway formed early in the stage, the Cofidis team took part in the chase behind the leaders. The day ended in another mass sprint, with Milan Fretin taking 12th place. More importantly, Alex Aranburu kept hold of the leader's jersey in the general classification. See you tomorrow for the final stage
Reaction from Sébastien Hinault, sports director:
"The good news is that Alex Aranburu keeps the leader's jersey. The race went pretty well for us, as a breakaway formed early on and the riders in it were able to pick up the bonus seconds. In the end, Jasper Philipsen is now just 2 seconds behind Alex overall. Milan Fretin took 12th place in the sprint. He stayed a bit boxed in within the bunch at 200 metres and couldn't manage better than 12th. Tomorrow we'll need to fight, there's a general classification to go for and it's a tricky stage. We're hoping to win this overall classification."
