Following Martina Alzini’s victory on the first stage of the CIC Women’s Tour of the Pyrenees, the Cofidis team was hoping to keep the momentum going on the slopes of the Tourmalet. Ema Comte finished in 4th place.

Another strong performance for Ema Comte. The young climber from Team Cofidis secured 4th place on the second stage of the CIC-Tour Féminin des Pyrénées on Saturday, June 13, 2026. Between Arrens-Marsous and Bagnères-de-Bigorre, she stayed in contact with the leaders on the slopes of the Col du Tourmalet. Now 5th in the general classification after this stage, she takes the white jersey as best young rider.

The reaction

Mélanie Briot, sports director:
"With temperatures at 28 degrees, it was hot, with little wind. It was tough. The plan was to aim for two goals, the main one being to get Ema Comte into the top 5 and to try to keep the green jersey with Martina Alzini. Today, we achieved one of our two goals for the day, but we also took the white jersey, so that’s not too bad. Early in the race, we had Victoire Berteau and Kristyna Burlova in a group of 12—a breakaway that built a lead of up to 2 minutes and 40 seconds, which was caught 5 kilometers from the base of the Tourmalet.  We wanted to try to get someone into the breakaway, see how far it could go, and provide support for Julie Bego or Em Comte.
We’re very pleased with Ema’s stage performance; she’s right there battling with the best. We’re very happy with her current form and also with her approach to these races. She’s very mature in her approach. I hope she continues in this vein.
Tomorrow, we’re expecting a tough battle with FDJ United – Suez, especially on a circuit that’s going to be very demanding between Nay and Jurançon. It’ll be much more intense, but the riders will still be tired from today’s stage. We’re expecting a tough battle, and we’re going to do everything we can to race hard again and keep this momentum going."
