These are roads they know well. On Sunday, June 7, 2026, Team Cofidis riders Ema Comte and Julie Bégo came very close to victory at the Alpes Grésivaudan Classic. The two young athletes, both from Chambéry, finished third and fourth in a race that featured significant elevation gain, just a few kilometers from the finish line. Although they faced stronger competition, our two climbers are maintaining the team’s positive momentum ahead of the CIC - Tour Fémin des Pyrénées next week.
The reaction
Arthur Quillec, sports director:
"A little bit of disappointment, but no regrets about this Alpes Grésivaudan Classic. We had a strong team at the start. We raced exactly as we’d planned that morning, but we came up against two riders who were simply better than us: Latimier and Appleton. We knew they were the most dangerous on the start list, but we were very satisfied with how we raced. We held our ground in the race and raced exactly as we intended.
We forced the other teams to work hard. On the final climb, it really comes down to pedaling. We have Ema Comte, who put in a solid, steady climb and really stepped up. But it’s true that up front, they were still a notch above us.
As I said, a little bit of disappointment, but no regrets about the day. The team worked really well together. We were the only full team to keep the race in the lead group. Now we’re off to the Pyrenees."
