ProSéries, women’s, para-cycling… All the Cofidis teams have been in action over the last few days and have all excelled. Alexis Renard secured an excellent second place at the Trop Bro Léo, Valentine Fortin took a podium place at the GP du Morbihan, Louis Hubert won the Para-cycling World Cup, whilst Benjamin Thomas and Bryan Coquard shone on the track. A look back at their impressive performances.

IN BRITTANY. Alexis Renard, a star on home turf

He was making his big return to competition, a few weeks after a well-deserved break following the Classics season. Alexis Renard was racing ‘at home’, watched by his family and friends, and he was determined to do well. On the famous Ribinous climbs, he first had to be patient. The presence of Valentin Ferron in the early breakaway allowed him to bide his time. In the final kilometres, Alexis managed to break away to stay on the wheels of the fastest riders. He held on until the end in the chasing group before launching his sprint and finishing just a few centimetres behind the winner, Filipo Fiorelli. Thanks to this second place, Alexis has gained a huge confidence boost; he will be a key player for the team at the Tour of Hungary, which starts this Wednesday.

On Friday, during the Classique Morbihan for women, Valentine Fortin was the first to launch the sprint and remained in the lead for a long time. Although she was caught at the line, she secured third place and enjoyed the thrill of the podium. Also worth noting this weekend, at the GP Morbihan, were Nikola Noskova’s fifth place and Valentin Ferron’s seventh.

IN ITALY. Louis Hubert’s clean sweep

A week after making a big impression in Ostend (Belgium) with four podium finishes and two gold medals, the para-cycling team competed in the third round of the World Cup in Pescara, Italy. And, true to form, the riders shone. Louis Hubert achieved a clean sweep by winning the time trial on Friday and the road race on Sunday. Thanks to his flawless performance, he claimed the overall World Cup title, a testament to his consistency across every round. Arthur Bauchet also put in a strong performance, securing two medals:  gold in the time trial and bronze in the road race. Meanwhile, Katell Alençon and Elliot Hubert both finished in the top 10, in 6th and 9th place respectively.

IN THE VAR. Thomas and Coquard, kings of the track

There were also Cofidis riders at the International Track Cycling Festival in Hyères. Bryan Coquard and Benjamin Thomas put themselves to the test at the velodrome. And they, too, put in a particularly strong performance! Whilst the pair won the Madison, Benjamin Thomas took the scratch race and Bryan the elimination race. Finally, it was the Olympic champion who won the omnium, with Bryan finishing third. A fitting end to a weekend of triumph!
