On Saturday, May 9, our women’s team competed in the Morbihan Grand Prix. With three Cofidis riders in the top 15 and an aggressive race strategy, the team played a leading role.

On the challenging course of the GP du Morbihan, the Cofidis team looked comfortable and took an aggressive approach throughout the race. On the final climb of the Côte de Cadoudal, well-known to fans, Nikola Noskava tried to take the initiative with an attack 600 meters from the finish line. She secured 5th place. Mijntje Geurts finished 7th, while Nadia Quagliotto took 12th place.

The reaction

Gaëtan Lemoine, sports director:
“We went into the race aiming to contend for the win, either through sprints at the top of the climb with Nadia Quagliotto and Malvina Mul, or by taking the initiative early in the sprints with Nikola Noskova. That’s exactly what we did on the final climb up Cadoudal.
The girls rode tightly together in the first section, and then the VolkerWessel Cycling Team took control of the race. We ended up with a small group of about twenty riders, including Victorie Guilman, who had made a move right at the start of the race but had been dropped, and Malvina, who was sidelined by a flat tire.
Julie Bego and Mijntje Geurts made a move on the circuit to put pressure on the VolkerWessel Cycling Team in particular. And on the final lap, Nikola launched a strong attack 600 meters from the finish, but unfortunately it fell just short. In the end, it was the VolkerWessel Cycling Team with Eline Jansen who deserved their victory given the race they put in.
We have two riders in the top ten, and this sets the tone for May,  when we need to continue finishing in the top ten fairly regularly."
