World Cup: Bauchet and Hubert shine once again!

World Cup: Bauchet and Hubert shine once again!

Louis Hubert and Arthur Bauchet once again proved dominant this Friday, May 8, during the final round of the World Cup. Outstanding in the time trial, they claimed their third and second victories respectively in the discipline.

One week after a successful outing in Gistel, Belgium, the team arrived in Montesilvano determined to keep the momentum going. Today’s challenge was a 15.2-kilometer time trial, with a large section running alongside the Adriatic Sea, offering another opportunity for our athletes to shine at this final World Cup round. Following their victories in the discipline last week, Arthur Bauchet and Louis Hubert knew they would be the riders to beat.

The young Breton confirmed the progress he has made this season by flying around the course at over 45 km/h. Louis Hubert once again took victory in the C3 category, finishing seven seconds ahead of his Canadian rival. It marked his third success in as many time trials. At just 19 years old, the powerful rouleur continues to climb the ranks. Could the rainbow jersey be waiting for him in a few months’ time?

Naël Habasque also continued his progression. Still in high school, he finished 12th in the C5 category, while Eliott Pierre placed 16th in the same race.

Arthur Bauchet delivers again!

There’s another rider for whom the double project is clearly paying off. Arthur Bauchet claimed his second World Cup time trial victory in as many appearances. Our Paralympic champion delivered a flawless performance and is increasingly establishing himself as one of the standout figures in the C2 category. He won this final round by more than thirty seconds over his nearest challenger.

Katell Alençon rounded off the day’s racing with a strong 5th place in the C4 category.

The team also has a thought for Gatien Le Rousseau, who crashed in training and will unfortunately have to stay off the bike for several weeks. The former world champion suffered a fractured jaw.

Reaction from sports director Valérie Alexandre:

“It’s been a great day for the team, with two victories today. Louis (Hubert) is now almost guaranteed to win the overall World Cup classification, as his lead over second place is very comfortable. Only a DNF could prevent that, and that’s obviously not a scenario we’re considering. Arthur (Bauchet) also took a superb victory today! It’s also worth highlighting Katell (Alençon)’s strong performance, finishing fifth.

We’ll see you again in two days for the road races!

We also have strong thoughts for Gatien (Le Rousseau), who unfortunately won’t be able to defend his chances this weekend. He suffered a fractured jaw in a heavy crash two days ago and will have to stay away from the bike for some time.”
