The second round of the Para-cycling World Cup got underway this weekend in Belgium. First up: the time trial. Over 20 kilometres battered by violent gusts of wind, the Cofidis team riders came out swinging, claiming two gold medals and a bronze.

The tone was set from the very first day of competition. The wind, constant and unpredictable, made for a particularly demanding challenge for all competitors. But that didn't stop the Cofidis riders from shining. Arthur Bauchet takes the win in C2, Louis Hubert in C3, while Gatien Le Rousseau steps onto the third step of the podium in C4. Katell Alençon puts in a solid 6th place finish. Naël Habasque comes in 13th, and Eliott Pierre, without a time trial bike, completed the course on his standard road bike. The road race is now eagerly awaited, with hopes of keeping the momentum going.

Gatien Le Rousseau, bronze medallist:

"It's a performance that reflects my current level. The Championships are still quite a way off, so I'll keep building my form steadily. And we'll be able to celebrate with the rest of the team, who performed really well this afternoon."

Arthur Bauchet, gold medallist:

"Really happy with this gold medal in the time trial. With the dual project — skiing and cycling — it's good to know where I stand before the first races, so I'm very pleased to win today, and with a solid gap over a lot of riders. Very proud — I've also secured my selection for the World Championships, which will be my first Worlds in para-cycling. The road race is in two days, we've had great results across the team today, can't wait."
