Despite Stan’s excellent performance yesterday, our riders were not spared from crashes and health issues. Our team doctor, Piet de Moor, gives an update.
Alexis Renard: He has only suffered superficial cuts and bruising to his left thigh and left shoulder. He will be ready to start at Gent-Wevelgem on Sunday.
Jenthe Biermans: Having been involved in the crash on the final cobbled section, an X-ray of his right hand last night revealed no fractures. Today, he still has significant bruising and swelling on his finger; he is unable to brake or change gears, so he will not be starting in the Roue Tourangelle on Sunday.
Alex Kirsch: an X-ray of his hand and wrist did not reveal any fractures last night. However, he had a bad night and went to see Dr Annemie Batjoens today for a CT scan and MRI. These scans ultimately revealed a non-displaced fracture, which will prevent him from cycling for the next four weeks. He will only be able to resume training if his condition improves. Edoardo Zamperini will replace him on Sunday at Gent-Wevelgem.
