Cold temperatures, rain and crosswinds shaped this fourth stage of Paris-Nice. The peloton endured a tough day over the 195 kilometres from Bourges to the Signal d’Uchon, which hosted the first summit finish of this edition.

From the very start in Bourges, strong winds and freezing temperatures caused crosswind splits within the first few kilometres. The peloton quickly broke apart into several groups, with Ion Izagirre and Bryan Coquard finding themselves in the second group.

Despite a chaotic day, our Basque rider never gave up, working his way through the groups one by one to eventually cross the line in 12th place and move up to 10th in the general classification.

Reaction from Bingen Fernandez, sports director :

"We can say we saved the day with Ion Izagirre's 12th place. From the start, the race was decided by the crosswinds and we ended up in a second group, with Kevin Vauquelin and around forty riders ahead of us. It was a real battle all day long, without a single moment of respite. Ion Izagirre moves back into the top 10 of the general classification. Now, we will continue to defend that position and stay alert to opportunities, whether for the general classification or to attempt a breakaway in the coming days."
