Top 5 and a distinctive jersey to wrap up the Vuelta a Extremadura
Team Cofidis concludes the Vuelta a Extremadura with strong positives and a solid collective performance. On a varied and demanding course, featuring a time trial, a stage for sprinters and a mountainous finale, the team delivered throughout the weekend.
Noskova on the attack on the queen stage
The decisive stage between Jerte and Jaraíz de la Vera featured nearly 2,800 metres of elevation gain and four climbs. Sticking to the race plan, the team remained patient before going on the offensive at mid-race.
Nikola Noskova shattered the peloton on the third climb before moving clear at the front. Present in the breakaway and even solo with 30 km to go, she held on all the way to secure a strong 4th place.
Her teammate Ema Comte also delivered an excellent ride, finishing 10th on the stage.
Two Cofidis riders in the Top 6 overall
Thanks to her consistency across the three days, Nikola Noskova finishes 4th overall. Ema Comte confirms the team’s strong momentum with 6th place in the final general classification.
Marion Borras is also rewarded for her activity with the intermediate sprints jersey, a reflection of the team’s attacking mindset shown in Spain.
“It was a demanding queen stage with 2,800 metres of elevation gain and four climbs. The plan was to stay patient until mid-race before launching the battle. The peloton exploded on the third climb under Nikola’s impetus.
With 60 km to go, she tried her luck solo after working at the front. She gave everything and paid for her efforts in the final kilometres, unable to contest the win in the last two kilometres.
In the end, it was an excellent weekend: 4th and 10th on the stage, 4th and 6th overall, the intermediate sprints jersey and strong positions in the other classifications.
We felt alive today. We raced the way we like to — offensively, without fear and with the desire to measure ourselves against the best. I am very proud of the team’s performance. Even if victory escaped us, we did everything we could to go for it.”
