Building on its current momentum, the Cofidis team secured a fine podium finish in the Tour des Alpes-Maritimes with its British climber Simon Carr on Sunday, February 22, 2026.
After a difficult 2025, Simon Carr returned to the podium on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at the Tour des Alpes-Maritimes. The Cofidis team climber took third place in a race that was challenging both in terms of its route and the way it was run.
Throughout the day, our riders, led by Evaldas Siskevicius, played an active role in the race. First with young climbers Edoardo Zamperini and Jamie Meehan, who tried their luck in the breakaway. Unfortunately, they were unsuccessful, as the peloton never let them get too far ahead. In the final, just when we thought that a leading duo was going to battle it out for the victory, a group including Simon Carr finally caught up. On the long finish to Le Biot (1.6km at 5.6%), our British rider took third place. His first podium since April 2024. We wish him “the first of many great results.”
The reaction
Evaldas Siskevicius: "Simon Carr came third today. That's a great result for him. I'm really happy because he's come a long way. I would like to congratulate the whole team for their work today because we had an offensive team. Right from the start, we had Edoardo Zamperini and Jamie Meehan in the breakaway. Then Nicolas Deaubaumarché and Jenthe Biermans fought hard to be there and help the team as much as possible. And the others did their job to get Clément Izquierdo into position. The course was a bit too hard, especially the way the race was run. Simon Carr took advantage of this with his climbing skills. He took a fine third place and I hope this is only the first of many good results to come."
