He has established himself as an indispensable teammate, notably by helping Mads Pedersen and Jasper Stuyven shine. Alex Kirsch is one of those experienced riders who are so valuable for winning races and putting sprinters in the best possible position. Riding for Cofidis, where he has settled in very well, he aspires to do everything he can to help the team grow. Confidences.
My passion for cycling.
"When I was little, the Tour of Luxembourg passed by our house. My father encouraged me to be with him and watch it. I remember the victory of a Luxembourgish rider, Kim Kirchen, who won. It made me want to try it myself. And in my very first race, I finished second... That made me want to continue!"
What I like most about cycling.
"
Being surrounded by people who are all trying to be the best version of themselves. That's not specific to cycling, but to sport in general. And with a little hindsight, you realise how special that is compared to a normal job."
My induction at Cofidis.
“It went really well! After spending almost ten years with the same team, I thought it would be harder to find my feet, but that wasn’t the case at all – I’ve been made to feel very welcome here! Right from the first race, the AlUla Tour, I was keen to show that we were on the right track to present a good image of the team. I think we managed to put on a good show, and that will count for the future.”
My favourite place to train.
“Without a doubt, it’s Mallorca! The roads there are the best for cycling; it’s exceptional. And I think it’s better than Calpe (laughs)!”
My passions outside cycling.
“First and foremost, there’s my family – my three children and my partner – who are my reason for living. I also really enjoy reading books on spirituality, health, economics and personal development. At first, it was to become a better cyclist, but I realised it also helped me a lot in my life.”
