At 21 years of age, Mijnthe Geurts is part of a new generation of riders who aspire to shine at the highest level worldwide. The Dutch rider, currently with Visma Lease a Bike, will be a valuable asset in both the classics and stage races. She has signed with the northern team for the next two seasons (2026-2027).
Valuable when the road climbs
After two seasons with Lotto Soudal (2022-2023), she has been riding for Visma Lease a Bike since 2023. The Dutch rider is tough and has a climber's profile. She particularly enjoys hilly one-day races, as evidenced by her 10th place finish in this year's Flèche Wallonne. Recently, she also made her mark in the Giro d'Italia Women, where she took 3rd place in the best climber classification.
Mijnthe, who has signed up for the next two seasons (2026, 2027), will therefore strengthen the team as soon as the road climbs. Eager to support her leaders, Mijnthe will also have the opportunity to seize her chance to aim for victories. As a sign of her motivation to quickly integrate into the team, the Dutch rider says she wants to take French lessons so that she can be as comfortable as possible from the start of the season.
WHAT THEY SAID
Mijnthe Geurts: "Cofidis is a great team, well-known and established at the highest level for a long time thanks to the men and, more recently, the women. I like the idea of wanting to perform well in both the classics and stage races with mountain stages. It's still a little early to talk about my specific goals, but I want to give my all for the team and I hope I'll also have the opportunity to try my luck if the circumstances of the race allow it. "
Mélanie Briot, sporting director: "She is a rider who has caught our attention recently and whom we have been following closely. Her 10th place in the Flèche Wallonne and her results speak volumes about her abilities! She has a very explosive profile, which is atypical and will be a real asset to the team. Furthermore, like Malwina Mul and Krystyna Burlova, she is a very young rider, which is a real asset for the future. We will do everything we can to help them progress and grow while building for the long term."
