In the space of four seasons, he has established himself as a key member of the team. The Tarnais native made a name for himself by winning the Giro d'Italia (May 2024) and taking gold at the Paris Olympics. Benjamin Thomas has extended his contract for the next two seasons (2026 and 2027).
Benjamin Thomas has been riding for Cofidis for four years now. With the UCI World Tour team, the track cyclist made a name for himself by winning the Étoile de Bessèges and then the Boucles de la Mayenne in 2022. The following year, he clocked the fastest time at the 4 Days of Dunkirk before claiming a magnificent victory at the Giro in May 2024, an unforgettable day between Genoa and Lucca.
By adjusting his schedule, Cofidis also allowed Benjamin to prepare properly for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. The result was one of his greatest professional joys: an Olympic championship title in the Omnium.
On the road, Benjamin competed in three Grand Tours with Cofidis, including two Tours de France (2022, 2025). He likes to think of himself as a ‘stage hunter’. He aspires to achieve new victories and dreams of success in the Grand Tours, raising his arms in victory as he did in the Giro...
THEY SAID
"Being a stage hunter"
Benjamin Thomas: "I am very happy to continue the adventure for another two years with Cofidis. I have been with the team for four years now, and for me, extending my contract is a great sign of confidence. Since I arrived, I have flourished within the team. I've had some great seasons and achieved some of my career goals. The team has helped me reach new heights and experience some amazing moments, whether it was my stage victory in the Giro or my Olympic medal on the track. At Cofidis, we have a good group, we all get on well together and I enjoy being with my teammates and the staff. For the rest of the season, I'm going to do everything I can to perform well and help the team achieve more podium places. And then in the medium term, I want to continue aiming for a stage victory in a Grand Tour and play my cards right in stage races. Being a stage hunter suits me fine!
Cédric Vasseur, general manager: "It's a real pleasure to work with Benjamin and I'm obviously very happy to be able to count on him for the next two seasons. Benjamin delighted us with his Olympic title and his victory in the Giro. Like Bryan Coquard, he also acts as the team's road captain. He knows how to motivate and boost the troops. Benjamin has plenty of room for improvement, and I am convinced that we have not yet seen the full extent of his potential. He will take advantage of every opportunity to add to his list of achievements and go on to new successes."
