The Normandy-born rider, who spent two seasons with the northern outfit (2019, 2020), is back in the red and white colours. At 28, more seasoned and eager to put his experience to good use for the team, he will do his utmost to make Cofidis shine, where he will enjoy meeting up with his former team-mates and the members of the staff who all have fond memories of him.
Damien Touzé in the colours of Cofidis is a step back in time. In 2019 and 2020, the rider from Normandy was riding for the team from the north of France. In his first year, he discovered the Belgian classics and the Vuelta. The following year saw him take part in Paris-Nice. After four years' experience with another French team, he will be making his return next season.
Damien Touzé has signed a two-year contract with Cofidis. Appreciated by the staff, he said he was attracted by "the project led by Cédric Vasseur". The rider who describes himself as a puncheur-rouleur is keen to give his all to help the team shine in all circumstances. He is particularly keen on the Flandrian classics, where he will be able to support Dylan Teuns, who is making his debut in the team. A native of Normandy, Damien Touzé recently set up home just a few kilometres from the Cofidis race department, as a symbol of his new chapter with the team.
Damien Touzé: "I was seduced by the project that Cédric presented to me. I was keen to have a slightly freer role than in the past. More freedom and more confidence, that's exactly what I was looking for. I'm a puncheur-rouleur and I particularly like the Flandrian classics. I left on good terms with the whole team, so I'm not going into the unknown. It's going to be great to see everyone again! After all, it's quite rare for a rider to return to a team where he's already been. And I'll be doing everything I can to be up to the task!
Cédric Vasseur, general manager: "It's a real pleasure to welcome Damien back to the Cofidis team. We're well aware of his sporting and human qualities and I'm convinced that, at 28, he's going to write a new chapter in his career in the Cofidis jersey. Damien will have an important role to play in all the classics at the start of the season, with a team that is strengthened for this type of race. I'm also convinced that he'll be able to find his way to victory with all the experience he's gained in recent seasons. Welcome back to the team!
