GIRO D'ITALIA - STAGE 13 NICOLAS EDET'S IN GOOD SHAPE

GIRO D'ITALIA - STAGE 13 NICOLAS EDET'S IN GOOD SHAPE

Published on : 10/16/2020

In a particularly demanding final, the rider from Sarthe stayed in line with the best. 12th of the stage and 1st Frenchman, he confirmed his return to the highest level after falling several times at the start of the Giro.

Curious stage on the Giro's road. Indeed, the route between Cervia and Monselice proposed an exclusively flat track for 155 km before two 4th category difficulties that preceded the finish. Enough to guarantee suspense throughout the stage.

Edet, 1st Frenchman

Everything accelerated in the last few kilometers. The peloton - which included the Cofidis riders - managed to catch the breakaway. While the favourites for final victory in this Giro were all positioned at the front of the race, Nicolas Edet was right behind them. The rider from Sarthe finished 1st Frenchman and 12th in the stage. The day after Jesper Hansen's breakaway, the Cofidis team once again showed its good form.

Tomorrow, the stopwatch will be used as a justice of the peace. For the second time after Palermo in the first stage, the riders will have to compete in a time trial. 34.1 km will be covered between Conegliano and Valdobbiadene with a 4th category climb to be climbed after 7 km. After this intense effort, there will be one more stage before they finally get a well-deserved rest day.

THEY SAID...

NICOLAS EDET: "

In the final, we wanted to try to place Elia (Viviani) and Simone (Consonni) for a possible group finish. They managed to hold on well in the final climb before the attacks that put them in a lot of trouble. I managed to stay in contact and could have done better if I hadn't made a little mistake at the beginning of the last turn. But the important thing of today is that I was with the best riders and despite the fatigue, the feeling is still good."
