The day after the massive sprint in which Elia Viviani finished 5th, the Cofidis riders managed their effort in a very challenging stage with three passes to cross in the rain and fog. The next two stages will be more suitable for sprints, especially on Friday in Brindisi.


You have to know how to take it easy when you're competing in a Grand Tour. After five days of racing, the body has already faced a tough test. Nicolas Edet was the victim of two falls during the first two stages and Mathias Le Turnier had a fall near the finish line yesterday.
 

Breakaway specialists in the spotlight tomorrow
It was nevertheless necessary to take the road again this Wednesday for the longest stage of this first week (225 km) entirely disputed in Calabria. Under heavy skies and a temperature that dropped to 15°C, three challenging episodes were on the program, with one of them of the 1st category. The riders of the team managed to do a great job in the peloton. Stéphane Rossetto stood out by finishing 2nd best Frenchman of the stage (39th).
 
Tomorrow, the peloton continues to head north. The 188 kilometers of hilly terrain between Castrovillari and Matera could finish in a sprint. Then it's time for stage 7 on Friday, which the sprinters won't want to miss out on in order to give the Cofidis team another chance to shine.
